Calypso Resorts is a popular destination for beach lovers visiting Panama City Beach. We often have guests who need clarification on the fact that Calypso Tower III is a separate resort from Towers I and 2. Here’s what you need to know about these resorts before booking your next Panama City Beach getaway!
Calypso Resort and Towers 1 and 2 and Calypso Tower III
With two resorts with similar names close together, guests are often confused about their differences. There are similarities between the two resorts. Both resorts share a parking garage, and their proximity offers similar conveniences for their guests. Both locations are within walking distance of Pier Park, the pier, and other local restaurants and attractions. However, they each have their unique offerings for their prospective guests. One of the biggest points of confusion that guests seem to be frustrated by is the amenities. Guests can only use the amenities of the resort they booked. So, guests booked for Calypso Resort 1 and 2 can only use the fitness center in their resort and the pools in front of the East and West Towers. Similarly, guests booked to stay at Calypso Tower III can only use the fitness center and pool in Tower III.
Calypso Resort and Towers 1 and 2
Calypso Resort and Towers 1 and 2 opened in 2006. With the East (1) and West (2) Towers, this resort offers a range of accommodations from 1-bedroom units to 3-bedroom condos. Each condo boasts a full kitchen, living area, and private balcony. The resort has several amenities, including private beach access, two pools with one heated seasonally, a new fitness center, a tiki bar, four fire bowls, and a souvenir and gift shop open 24/7.
Calypso Resort and Towers 1 and 2 is a beach front resort with all amenities on the beautiful white sands and emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The parking garage is across the street, and a covered walkway is on the third floor. There is also a private owner’s garage underneath the resort, with spaces that owners can rent out to guests. This is exclusive to Tower 1 and 2 guests.
Calypso Tower III
Calypso Tower III is a newer resort that opened in 2021. It offers condos similar to Towers 1 and 2, with units ranging from one to three bedrooms. These condos also feature full kitchens and living areas. While still private, the balconies in Tower III are larger than those in Towers 1 and 2.
Calypso Tower III is located across the street from Towers 1 and 2. While the resort isn’t beachfront, most condos on the higher floors have a beautiful Gulf view, and guests are a short walk from the beach. Calypso Tower III boasts a large pool with zero entry and is heated seasonally. The pool deck offers private cabanas for guests to rent, a fire pit area, grill areas, a hot tub, and two tiki bars. The resort also offers a fitness center that is available 24/7. There is also a restaurant and souvenir store on site.
Why Are They Different Resorts with the Same Name?
That’s a great question! Originally, Calypso Tower III was going to be part of the same resort. However, in 2008, due to the downturn in the economy, construction was halted. The project passed to a new developer, and construction plans resumed in 2018. After several legal battles, the new Tower III decided to become its own resort and has been a separate resort since opening in 2021. As part of their legal settlement, they share a parking garage with Calypso Towers 1 and 2 and the Calypso name.
Which Resort Should I Choose?
That’s a question only you can answer! Both are wonderful resorts and offer great amenities, but they have differences that may cater to guests’ different needs. Calypso Resort and Towers 1 and 2 is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a well-rounded resort with various amenities and a central location with beachfront accommodations. Calypso Tower III might be the perfect fit if you want hot tubs or grills with additional family-friendly features and stunning views but are not set on a beachfront location. The choice is yours!
