I don’t know about you, but my Mama always told me that pizza for breakfast wasn’t allowed. Of course, I’m 100% positive that she never tried it or she would have known how amazing it is! I don’t recall having it until later in life, and now I make it as often as I can get away with. This is NOT the “cold, leftover” pizza from the night before (maybe that’s what my Mama always meant). This is pizza with all of your favorite breakfast foods all in one delicious bite.
Homemade pizza dough makes this even more tasty, but frozen, canned pizza dough or store bought pre-made pizza crust works just as well and it makes it a simple and quick breakfast. You can make this with or without a sauce, but I personally prefer it with sauce as it just adds another layer of tasty!
Ingredients:
- 1 can of pizza dough or pre-made pizza crust
- 1 package or jar of country gravy mix
- 1 package of pre-cooked pork sausage pieces (or cook and crumble 1# pork sausage
- 1 small package of shredded hash brown (sometimes I use hash browns w/onions and green peppers)
- 3 eggs, scrambled
- Bacon crumbled or bacon bits, to taste
- Chopped ham (optional)
- 8 ounces of your favorite shredded cheese (I use colby-jack)
Optional toppings:
- fresh sliced tomato
- fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400° (or directions on the type of dough you have decided to use).
- Prep all of your toppings if needed (cook and crumble sausage, shred cheese, scramble eggs, prepare gravy mix).
- While prepping all of your ingredients, if you are using canned pizza dough, spread it out on your greased pan and cook in oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until lightly browned. This step isn’t necessary if using a pre-made pizza crust.
- Spread gravy mix evenly onto pizza crust, followed by sausage, hash browns, eggs, ham, and bacon. Top with shredded cheese.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes or until cheese melts.
- Remove from oven and top with sliced tomato and fresh parsley (optional) and/or drizzle with some leftover country gravy mix.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Want A Healthier Option?
To make a healthier option, you can opt to use turkey sausage and bacon, or less meats and more vegetables, low-fat cheese or even a keto or cauliflower crust. The toppings are so versatile for this, so make it how you would get the most pleasure from it!
