During a recent trip to Panama City Beach, we were on a quest to find the BEST breakfast pizza in the area. We were disappointed that the choices were limited to only one place, Bricks and Barley Pizza, but after sampling their two choices of breakfast pizzas, we realized we didn’t need to find another place! They offer “The All Nighter” and “The Total Eclipse of the Cheese” on their menu and we were NOT disappointed. At our request, they made our pizza half and half of each type, so we were able to sample both. It’s a little tricky to find, so keep an eye out driving by…it’s a true gem!
They make their dough with only King Arthur flour. They serve 100% Grande Cheese from Wisconsin, and other fine ingredients. They also hand make their Red Sauce in house with fresh herbs, spices and secret ingredients. The crust is so light and airy, but has the perfect amount of crunch to it. They offer pizza by the slice or a whole pie and they also have a gluten free option. While we are featuring their breakfast pizza, they also have a large variety of starter items, fresh salads, sandwiches, wings, calzones, specialty pizzas, and dessert items on their menu. You can build your own pizza or choose from a number of specialty pizzas.
The All Nighter
This was our favorite of the two choices. The toppings offered are a garlic and oil base, mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, yellow onions and finished with a swirl of country gravy on top. It’s just the perfect blend of ingredients with every single breakfast item in one amazing bite!
The Total Eclipse of the Cheese
The toppings offered are a garlic and oil base, mozzarella cheese, burrata cheese, boursin cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon and red onion. Burrata cheese is a soft, fresh Italian cheese. This cheese could easily be mistaken for fresh mozzarella—and that’s because the outer shell is made of soft mozzarella. But, when you bite into it you find a soft oozing center made of cheese curds and cream. Boursin cheese is a soft creamy cheese, with a flavor and texture somewhat similar to cream cheese. The blend of cheeses is a delight in every bite!
Our only disappointment was that we weren’t able to make it back to sample other items on the menu. I personally can’t wait on our next visit to try “The Philly Who Fled South” with oil & garlic base, mozzarella, shaved ribeye, green bell peppers and yellow onions on top! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Or for those that want to spice things up, perhaps the “Angry Bird” which consists of oil & garlic base, mozzarella, buffalo chicken, yellow onions, jalapenos, blue cheese crumbles, with a ranch drizzle. The mushroom lover would enjoy “Charlotte’s Truffle” which consists of oil & garlic base, fresh mozzarella, fresh rosemary, mushrooms, portabellas, yellow onions and a truffle oil drizzle. So many choices, so hard to decide!
