One of my favorite parts about visiting Panama City Beach is how easy it is to get around. We often see guests who either don’t have a car or park their car and don’t drive it again until the end of their trip. There are so many options for getting around Panama City Beach without your car!
Walk
Depending on where you’re staying, there are many places within walking distance of the resort. Calypso and Tidewater are great examples of the many walkable resorts in Panama City Beach. It’s close proximity to Pier Park and other area attractions makes it the perfect place to stay without a car. Most of our resorts are in walking distance of restaurants, shopping, and activities. During peak season, guests often find it faster to walk to certain places than if they were to take their car and search for parking.
Rent a golf cart
Whether its for a day or your whole trip, renting a golf cart is a great way to get around. You will often see golf carts driving around on Front Beach Road. Street legal golf carts can be driven on Front Beach Road and any connecting street that has a speed limit of 35mph or less. Golf carts are an easy and convenient way to travel along Front Beach Road.
Bayway
Bayway is the Bay County public transit system that services Panama City Beach and surrounding areas. One way passes can be purchased for $1.50 with special pricing for senior citizens, disabled passengers, and students. Day passes can be purchased for $4 and 31 day passes can be purchased for $35. To buy passes you can use the token transit app or you can make your purchase on the bus. If you are making your purchase on the bus it is highly recommended to bring exact change. To check out the bus routes and learn more about Bayway visit their website.
Ride Share
Uber and Lyft have become an increasingly popular way to get around. You can order a ride on demand or reserve a ride ahead of time. It is a great way to get around without having to worry about driving or where to park. If you plan on taking a ride share, here are some tips to ensure you have a safe trip:
- Check the rating of your driver
- Don’t share personal information
- Confirm the car type, licence plate, and driver before getting into the vehicle
- Share your ride details with a friend
- Wear your seatbelt
Rent a bike
Panama City Beach is proud to be a bike friendly city. The city offers several bike trails as well as bike lanes on select major roads such a Front Beach Road and Thomas Drive. Not only is biking a great way to get some exercise, but you can enjoy the beautiful views and feel that gulf breeze while you travel. There are beautiful bike trails for visitors to enjoy in Camp Helen State Park, Conservation Park, St Andrew’s State Park, and Gayle’s Trails. These wonderful trails can be enjoyed by bicyclists of all skill levels.
Whether you’re flying into Panama City Beach or driving down and don’t want to drive around during your trip, there are plenty of options for getting around that will allow you to have a fun, worry-free trip.
